Why The Whisper Fund?
The Need

The Whisper Fund’s Evolving Mission
The Whisper Fund was originally established to help Miranda Alcott pay excessive veterinary
bills for Whisper’s medical treatment after being diagnosed with an incurable disease in
2005. Due to the generosity of donors too numerous to mention individually, Whisper was able
to live an additional 15 months longer,
peacefully, at her beloved Miranda’s side.
A huge THANK YOU to all who donated
during that challenging period.
Assistance animals are expensive. Miranda’s
new canine partner will eventually be specially
trained for crisis intervention so she can
resume her volunteer counseling work in times
of crisis.
In the future, we anticipate that the
IHC-Whisper Fund’s mission will expand into
a focus of raising public awareness,
encouraging community participation, and
honoring/aiding animals who serve in both
private and public positions.
The IHC Whisper Fund relies on individual donations, foundation gifts, special events and
active Whisper Fund Board fundraising. Volunteers provide an integral part of our program.
